    Reuse yeast cake?

+1 to the slurry in jar. Pitched onto yeast cakes on 2 batches and wasn't pleased with results.

Recipe to Showcase Michigan Fresh Hops?

Sweet! I might try them in some sort of blonde ale. I just ordered some wild harvested lager yeast from craft cultures at ebrewsupply and other Michigan hops. I'll be set for a while.

Recipe to Showcase Michigan Fresh Hops?

I ordered some of these, what beers did they turn out well in.

Sharp edge on the lid of a keggle. What to do?

https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/edgingft.htm This worked well for me. Got kegs used, didn't bother to file them down anymore

    First time BIAB question

Good advice about not making your first batch harder. A 36 qt bayou classic is $34 at amazon. While I think the 44qt is better for 5g batches you could definitely make it work. The Pliney kit can't be cheap. So don't waste that, I think you'll be disappointed. Maybe go to the LHBS and pick...

Yeast starter harvested from 2 bottles of Oberon

I recall going 3-4 generations with no problems. I used to make larger starters and throw some into mason jars so I'd have a "clean" culture vs a slurry. I'd store it for extended periods and make another starter when needed.

    Best Kit You Ever Purchased

I just ordered the bohemian pilsner and helles lager Palmer kits from AHS. It may be a few months before I report back. It was like 43 total for both kits and they were extra to my original order so didn't cost more shipping. Best kits I recall making were Williams brewing California pilsner...

Yeast starter harvested from 2 bottles of Oberon

I'm sure it'll still be great. Got me looking into reculturing the bells yeast again. Experimenting to me is more fun than drinking

Yeast starter harvested from 2 bottles of Oberon

Mine usually takes longer but maybe my yeast is more stressed out in Arizona with shipping/heat.

Yeast starter harvested from 2 bottles of Oberon

I'm no expert but I personally would have waited for the bells yeast to take hold before adding the hefe slurry. Culturing from bottles takes a while to build up. Do you still have the 3 other Oberon bottles?

Burner for BIAB with B/C 44-qt pot

Either is more than enough. The blichmann has is adjustable. I would imagine the other one is.

Lower the bag/basket or raise the water?

Agree to the wilser bag. Plus if I'm not mistaken there's a deal in the sponsor showcase right now 🤔

Burner for BIAB with B/C 44-qt pot

I've used a blichmann and it works well. I use it with one of brewhardwares 1500w hot rods and barely use any gas. Would like to go full electric but I'm ok with this setup. I have lately been brewing on my kitchen stove with the hot rod and I've enjoyed that too. Long story short, if it were...

Yeast starter harvested from 2 bottles of Oberon

Agree. I've harvested twice and used about 200ml and 6 bottles then worked up from there. I've been feeling like I need to do this again.

Review of Safale K-97 German Ale -- Great for Open Fermentation

I made a kolsch style with this yeast and it is fantastic. Great pilsner flavor and some slight ester. Mostly German pilsner malt with some Vienna I believe. German hops. Didn't plug recipe into beer smith as my computer was broken [emoji57]. Figures.
