    Request: Bud Light Clone Recipe

Drink a case of Bud. Bottle the urine. Probably the closest one can get to BL.

    Tower/collar hybrid???

Why not just build the collar bigger so it sticks out the side or front? You'd have to enclose the portion sticking out, but you wouldn't have any lines outside the freezer. You could make it six inches wider than the opening/lid and have the tower mounted on that. That way you could still open...

    Show us your Kegerator

Hi. I have three pin-locks plus a 10 lb CO2 tank. If I relocated the tank outside, I'm sure I could fit four. Ball lock kegs are a little taller and I'm not sure they would fit height-wise without removing the sliding tray and bumping into the freezer. The fridge is about 56" tall and 24 inches...

    So I messed up...

Thanks again. I took a gravity reading yesterday (10 days after brew day) and it is at 1.005. Tasted the sample and it tasted good. I figured it would draw out more fermentables, but wasn't sure of any other effects that would arise. I added the bourbon and whiskey wood chips yesterday as well...

Thanks all for the replies. I'll report back after I've taken a sample.

    So I messed up...

I did mash for 60 minutes after reaching 152. I'm wondering what effect, if any, it'll have soaking the grains in the coolish water for the 20 minutes or so that it took to reach my mash temp. I've never done a step mash (i.e., 20 mins at 122F, step up to 145F, or whatever), but that's supposed...

    So I messed up...

A couple of weeks ago I brewed a partial mash Porter. I had a fairly short window of time to brew and wasn't thinking it through clearly enough. Unfortunately, I added the grains to the cold water, like one might do for steeping grains, and heated to my mash temp (152F) instead of mashing in the...

    Tap handle score!

Nice! I scored that exact same BL handle from my local watering hole. I mentioned to the owner/bartender I was building a kegerator and if she had any extra tap handles...BOOM. She just gave it to me.

After much cleaning, sanding, general tearing apart and painting, I came up with this: Due to some issues with the black appliance paint, most of the door is chalkboard paint so the texture is a little bumpy. I have a Smashing Pumpkin carbing up in there and expect to pull the first pint...

I can finally contribute here! After years of bottling, I decided to finally start kegging. I won a few bucks from PCH and that was the excuse I needed. I convinced SWMBO that we would still have bills no matter what we did with the money. Letting a carboy sit on the dining room table for two...

Building 100% custom keg fridge? Surely someone has done it?

An alternative I've seen on here is to use a room/window air conditioner with a temp controller. Seems like much less work than tearing apart an old fridge or freezer. You'd just need a way to vent the "hot side" of the AC unit unless it's built into an outside-facing wall. A smallish unit would...

    Where to buy equipment?

I just bought a bunch of stuff from these two places to convert a vintage Westinghouse fridge (circa 1950). I searched around for what I wanted and split the order due to some things being better priced at one or the other. For what I wanted, these two places had the best prices. From Keg...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Last summer I made an American Wheat ale with honey, clementine zest and rosemary. My aunt (who likes wine but isn't much of a beer drinker) said, "Ooh, this tastes like an Oktoberfest that I liked". Well, at least I'm glad she liked it.

    tangerine instead of orange peel

I added some fresh clementine peel to about 4 oz of cheap vodka and made a tincture. I let it sit for about a week to extract the oils from the peel and added it to the bottling bucket of an american wheat recipe. Gave a nice hint of orange.

Wedding in a year, any suggestions for what to brew?

Congrats! Another thing to consider that would fit with Fall would be sparkling Apfelwine &/or a nice hard cider. Some that don't drink beer might appreciate those.
