    Megapot 1.2 - First Use

Hey Everyone- just got a megapot 1.2 and am wondering if it's best practice to boil some water in it prior to first use. I also heard several people swapping the original washers for flat rubber washers. Any benefits to the flat rubber washers as opposed to the round rubber ones it ships with...

    Significantly Missed OG with Extract

Well, I panicked too early. Checked it again this morning and it was up to 1.030 and again around noon and it was up to 1.037. Thanks for the feedback! Not going to lie, I've never seen the OG be off by that much with dilution. Learn something new each brew I guess. Thanks everyone!

    Significantly Missed OG with Extract

Has anyone ever experienced significant miss with their OG while doing extract? I'm talking hitting 1.020 when trying to hit 1.040. I brewed a batch of Northern Brewer Cream Ale this afternoon and am beyond pissed it missed the mark so badly. I'm not a new brewer and have made plenty of extract...

Brooklyn Brew Shop's Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Stout - Tips and Advice

Have you gotten a sample of this beer yet? I'm hoping to brew it for Christmas gifts this year (yes, I realize I'm a bit behind schedule) and was wondering how you liked it. Hope it turns out well. And +1 for using the oven at 170 degrees to hold temp. Works for me every time.

    Rehydrated yeast in tap water

You're correct, it "doesn't technically need to be rehydrated," but following the advice found here since my 3rd batch, I've had significantly better results. I'm not saying that it won't work without rehydrating, I'm saying my process is to rehydrate. So, if anyone has an answer to the...

    Rehydrated yeast in tap water

I normally rehydrate my yeast in cooled, boiled water, but being in a rush and having a few too many beers during brewing I rehydrated in water straight from the tap. Am I ok pitching? Or should I use an older packet I have laying around (albeit a different strain)? Sent from my iPhone using...

    Beer Recipe Spreadsheet Template

First update.... I knew there would be some bugs. Updates: 1. Changed formula for strike water to reflect scaled recipes. 2. Changed Fermentation days so that they don't show up as percentages. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ei682rk4lt3nern/Beer%20Recipe.xltx?dl=0

    Beer Recipe Spreadsheet Template

Hey everyone, I put together a beer recipe spreadsheet to help me keep track of some items on brewing day and wanted to share it. I did this for a couple of reasons: 1. I usually end up scaling my recipes to 1, 2.5 or 3 gallon recipes and wanted an easy way to do this without getting into...
