I tried a 5/8" post (the original was 11/16") and it still leaked. I'm transferring the beer to another keg. Will decide what to do with this one later.
I noticed that pressing down on the post reduced the rate of leakage. Seems to support the idea of a crack or failed weld.
I have had a Cereal Killer for many years but have not experienced this problem. The looseness of the gap-adjustment knob seems like a red flag. I wonder if something is broken inside. Has it always been loose or is this a new development?
On a different note, I tried setting mine to 0.025" but...
I am trying to eliminate a persistent CO2 leak on a ball lock keg that I've had for years. It is leaking at the bottom of the liquid post. I tried replacing the o-ring on the dip tube a couple of times. When that didn't work, I put two o-rings on. Both times, I applied keg lube liberally. But no...
I got a Bucket Blaster for Christmas and have found it to work really well with kegs. Unfortunately, the stand does not work well with my Big Mouth Bubbler fermenters. The ring on the stand would be perfect for a carboy with a narrow neck but it is the exact same size as the Bubbler's wider...

I've tried the Eva Dry in my fermentation chamber (fridge with a small heater and an Inkbird) and my keezer but was not thrilled with them. This might be a...
I've got about a dozen batches in with my Mash & Boil and like it a lot. The only issues I have are low efficiency (around 62%) and a general inability to get it dialed in with Beersmith. As far as efficiency goes, I have been reducing the size of my crush and started using a paint stirrer...
I ended up soaking the parts in vinegar overnight and then working them over with a circular wire brush attached to my drill. Got them pretty clean.
But then, the supplier informed me that the tank was overdue for a hydrostatic test. Rather than pay for it, I bowed to the inevitable and went...
Thanks for all the great suggestions, everyone. I think I will try power brushing the nut. If they still balk, I'll just take it to the other place and exchange it.
The flange nut and spring that holds the handwheel on my older (manufactured in 1994) CO2 tank has gotten quite rusty. The place that fills my tank won't fill it again until I replace them. I am finding this much more of a challenge than expected. I found a replacement handwheel with the...
My Mark II pump, which I bought about 3 years ago from Williams Brewing, has died. I plugged it in for the first time in about a year and all I get is a faint hum from the motor. I took the head off and the impeller turns freely and is clean. Any ideas before I throw it out?
That's a good thought. The recipe called for mashing at 66.66C and I would be concerned about changing the mouthfeel too much. On the other hand, maybe I'll try that and taste them both side by side. :)
Edited to correct the mash temp--I was looking at the wrong page in my notebook.
As TallDan predicted, my wort finally hit the target FG of 1.013. I raised the temp to 70F and swirled the carboy every day to rouse the yeast. I don't know if it would have finished fermenting on it's own or if the extra steps I took did it. Either way, I have learned something about using this...
