Make that two former RIMs brewers who have switched to HERMs. One simple screw-up, be it an errant flip of the wrong switch or a tap of the computer mouse to turn on the burner when you have no flow, whether it be just a couple seconds or till you start to smell it can mean either a dumped...
Bumping an old thread. Anyone have any recommendations in 2019? I currently have the basic model you find at most stores and overall the craftmanship is pretty so-so.
I was looking at the following https://www.micromatic.com/draft-beer/stout-and-ale-faucet-polished-stainless-steel-body-12543...
2019 bump.
Haven't brewed in a while. Put a couple gallons of tap waters and some StarSan into a bucket. Put my mini submersible pump that came with my keg washer in the bucket to recirculate sanitizer through my plate chiller. No smell at first, but left it run while I went to run some...
Gotta love the internet.
I left my stone in boiling water and then, like a *******, walked away to do something else. Sure enough boiled all the water off and got that stone super hot, completely melted whatever factory glue had been in there so now I have two pieces. Looks like a stop at...
Any updates? Long line do the trick for everyone else as well? I continue to battle foam with my stock setup and can get a couple of bottles filled for competitions if I just let it foam over a bunch but even then they come out as shorter than I'd like fills.
I have a 20" computer monitor mounted on an extendable arm above my control panel. From there I have a cord that runs to my laptop that I keep on the work bunch near brewing equipment.
Old thread bump. Any reason I couldn't just dip the aeration stone into my boil kettle during the last part of the boil just as a precaution to make sure there isn't anything living in it?
Then after I'm done using it put it in a tub of star san?
I purchased these quite some time ago but never ended up using them. I figure it is time to clean out the parts drawer.
I'm pretty sure I purchased all of them from brewers hardware . com ($15.00 each) but only three of them are etched with the BH logo.
50 dollars shipped for the lot...
I redid some things on my rig with a third pump and no longer have need for my 316 stainless ball valve with three input/output ports.
These were all purchased from brew hardware . com (36 dollars each) and are all the L flow design. Each is in great shape but each has had the handle shorted...
That was my first thought was to just decant, make up some new wort and let it start building again. Maybe I just got a smack pack with not much oomph in it.
I realized I still had a can of that Wort in a Can that Northern brewer uses so I'll use that up. Nice in a pinch for when I don't...
I am brewing a Russian Imperial Stout with an estimated original gravity of 1.108. Using Wyeast 1056 and a 2L starter Beersmith calculates 417 billion cells (and it calls for 394 billion to be needed).
This is the first time I've brewed a big beer so I have always done 1L yeast starters. I...
