Is it ok to use DME that is about two months old that is hard as a brick for a strarter? After the boil it seemed to break down. Just a question.

It should be fine for a starter. It's obviously not the freshest since it has absorbed moisture from the air, but once it dissolves and gets boiled there's little to worry about and it will provide the sugars needed to get your starter going. I wouldn't want to make a whole batch of beer with hardened DME or anything, but it should be just fine for a starter.

Sure, it will be just fine for a starter. That's one reason I moved away from DME and use wort to make starters.
