Degassed wine yesterday for 20 minutes with whip. Again today for another 5 minutes. Still some very small bubbles, not much. How do I tell when it's adequately degassed? Pic attached.
I usually taste a little sample, if I don't detect any carbonation then it's done.
If you're planning on bulk aging then don't worry about it. The small amount of CO2 left will come out in a couple months.
Take a sample of the wine, and put it in the hydrometer jar. Put your hand over the opening, and shake it. Remove your hand. If it goes "pop" or "poof", it's not done being degassed.
