Question about beersmith 2 App

Can anyone tell me what this means? It seems to contradict AG brewing when it says no for recommended mash ?

But in AG all grains get "mashed" so to speak ?

Yes, all grains generally go right into the mash. There are some techniques where they may not- say, adding black malt to only the sparge for color but not flavor, but it's not as common as just adding all of the grains to the mash.
 
Just so it's clear: That field in BeerSmith should be interpreted as "do you *have* to mash it?" If it says yes, you should mash it; if it says no, you can mash or steep.

"Recommended Mash: No" is *not* saying that you shouldn't mash it, it's saying that you can use it either way.

Thank you for the info. Just got the desk top version as well. Looking forward to making great beers with some help from Beersmith.
