All of the brew sculptures I have seen have the drain ports on the side. Any reason why people don't put their drains on the portion of the pots? Seems like a better spot. Has anyone tried to dimple the thicker bottom?

Can make it difficult to place the kettle when it's not on the sculpture, but you could always put it on it's top, I suppose. For BK's generally there is whirlpooling going on, which puts the sediment in the center of the kettle...wouldn't want the port there, but you could have a pickup going to the side I guess.
