I'm looking at picking up a mixer attachment for my power drill - primary purpose is to get the wort moving quickly around my imersion chiller to improve chill times. I know there are various cheaper paint/grout mixer attachments, but I'm looking at the Jiffy Mixer line because I want to go with a stainless mixer.
My question is, can I get away with the 1-2 gallon mixer blade ($21 on Amazon), or should I suck it up and buy the 5-10 gallon mixer blade ($54 on Amazon)? I currently use a 10 gallon kettle and generally have 5-7 gallons of wort in at flameout. May step up to a 15 gallon kettle (and 10-11 gallon flameout volumes) at some point.
My hope is that wort is much thinner than the paint, grout, and thick foodstuffs that these blades are designed for, so the 1-2 gallon mixer might be sufficient. Would love to hear from anyone that's tried either Jiffy Mixer product, but especially anyone that's used the 1-2 gallon mixer and has thoughts on whether it's sufficient. Of course if you've found a cheaper stainless automated mixing option, I'd also love to hear about it!
