I am about to bottle my first one gallon batch of cider and I was thinking I would cork it. But I haven't found any recipe here that suggests doing it. Is it a bad idea? Also, is it ok to pasteurize a corked product?

If it's carbonated just make sure you use bottles and corks made for pressure...such as Belgians or champagne bottles.

Agreed, the pressure of carbonation will force out a simple wine cork. Going with the champagne cork & cage route does give a more traditional look to the cider but will end up being more expensive than simple crowns.
