I've brewed a dozen or so all grain 5 gallon batches so far, and I've just bought equipment to start doing 12 gallon batches (new megapot, bigger wort chiller, blichmann burner with extensions).

Any advice for my first "big" batch? Any surprise gotchas?

Get a pump. That simple purchase almost made me cry from joy the first time I used it. Pump strike water to mash tun, vorlauf back into mash tun and then to bk, pump into fermenters. 10g x 8.33lbs/g gets awful hard on the back after a while.

I just did a porter with 34 pounds of grain and mashed in with 11 gallons of water

I know just what you are saying
