    Stalled Wit. Starter from beer?

I brewed a wit that seems to have stalled. I did use liquid yeast and a starter but I dont think it was nearly enough. The beer is stalled at 1.040 and is VERY sweet. Can I simply use some of the brewed beer to make a starter with liquid yeast and the repitch into my primaries?

    Fermentables + High abv

This is my first time making cider. Due to some peer pressure I am am making a HARD cider, 5 gallons (bulk fermentation in corny), shooting for an abv of 12-14% +. I am using unpasturized cider from my local orchard. First can anyone recommend a strain of yeast that is not as harsh/dry as...

    China Made Fermenters

I agree with you. Im curious as well. I have heard of the QC issues you spoke of with a few different facets of the brewing industry, specifically SS kegs. If these are the same ones imported to the US by a few wholesalers than that is enough for me. I just need some confirm this 100%.

    China Made Fermenters

Thats like saying that all cars that come out of the US are the exact same quality regardless of manufacturer or price point. I am sure that more than less of the stainless steel vessels that come out of China are inferior and not up to spec but you cant assume that is the case for every single...

    China Made Fermenters

I am really interested in some 2bbl jacketed fv(s) and possibly some brites. This is for a nano so if possible could you supply some exact pictures and drawings of the fv? What size are the ones in the picture you have posted on the first page of this thread.

Beer Gun, Bottling, Yeast and Natural Carb

Would racking to secondary keg, add priming sugar, mixing and the directly bottling flat have any adverse effects on yeast considering you are pushing with co2 into bottles?

Beer Gun, Bottling, Yeast and Natural Carb

A bit off topic but do you know how micros prepare their bottle conditioned beers? I don't know if they prime each bottle, if its inline with the filler, batch prime so to speak and then directly to bottle or carb and then bottle from a brite tank. Bottle conditioned is bottle conditioned so I...

Beer Gun, Bottling, Yeast and Natural Carb

EXACTLY! A closed transfer and batch consistency are the two main reasons I want to try this. Like you stated before foaming is my biggest concern. I am also worried about the level of yeast suspension while bottling. I could also see how the first half contains more yeast per bottle than the...

Beer Gun, Bottling, Yeast and Natural Carb

I agree with you about mixing in bulk and the bottling vs kegging and the same amount of clean up and time. I think i might give this a shot and see how works out. Try something different. Thank you!

Beer Gun, Bottling, Yeast and Natural Carb

Its so much easier to just prime the keg and fill than to get out the buckets and a few cases of bottles

Beer Gun, Bottling, Yeast and Natural Carb

After looking through countless threads about the Beer Gun I can not seem to find an answer to my problem. I plan on fermenting in a corny and doing a closed transfer to a secondary, mixing in the priming sugar and letting it carbonate naturally. Here is where my problem lies. I plan on...

Yet Another Water Report ( Local Spring Water)

Thank you. I assumed it was soft and like you said a blank canvas so to speak. I am not terribly concerned with additions. Like yourself, I would like to fully understand water profiles and the chemistry behind it rather than have a spreadsheet tell me what I need to add and in what quantity...

Yet Another Water Report ( Local Spring Water)

I have used a few different online calculators and know what to look for when reading a water report but I am still having trouble pulling this all together. Could someone point me in the right direction? All the values for this are much lower than other references. Ca+2 - 6.7 mg/l Mg+2 - 1.8...

    A419 and Power Strip

I am planning to ferment in corny kegs. With the upcoming cold I would like to use a few brew belts or something similar to control the temp. I also dont have 4+ A419's laying around. My question is this. Say I have 4 cornys fermenting. Can I put the brew belts on all 4 but only put a temp...

Can someone please identify these parts?

I am trying to locate some parts for my chill wizard. They are listed as MIP and FIP. To be honest I am unfamiliar with this thread type though from what I understand MIP/FIP and NPT are the same thing http://www.brew-magic.com/ketl_acc_adaptors.html Both NP1020 and NP1021 They have them...
