    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

A bit late to the party I know. I run the 65lt Brerwzilla gen 4. I started using the BLE thermometer only for the the last 3 batches. I keep the differential at 3 degrees celcius. I also use the PID while mashing. The first batch I got a varying temp range between the bottom and top temp probes...

Blichmann HERMS 15 Gallon Brewing System

Maybe the pumps have air in them clawler and they need to be primed? Also with boiling water or wort, the pumps will struggle to pump fluid at 100 degrees C. You need to make sure the pumps are correctly mounted so that the outlet is higher than the inlet.

Bucket Blaster Pump and PVC Pipe Threads: BSP or NPT?

BSP fittings WinterWarlock. They're both 14 tpi but have slightly different angles. Yes, they do mate together fairly well in the 1/2" fittings.

    Fermenting under pressure questions

Hi LJ. I’ve done a few pressure fermented brews now and I find that when chilling the finished beer the pressure doesn’t drop too much. My prv is a 20 psi valve and typically an ale ferment will be at approx 14 psi after chilling. I use a spunding valve, on the receiving keg, when kegging and...

What temp and duration do you hopstand?

I brewed an IPA today on a BM50. I've recently started following this thread so I thought I would leave my thoughts. In the past I would typically do a 60 min and 20 min hop addition and a flameout addition with 15 min stand at flameout. Today I did the 60 min and moved the others forward to a...

Scoring inside SS Brewtech sampling valve

Correct Bigdood. I’m no metallurgist/instrument maker but I assumed that the fault in the photo was from the stainless being poorly polished. Happy to be corrected.

Scoring inside SS Brewtech sampling valve

I had a similar problem with the TC bottom dump valve on my uni tank. I sent an email to the Australian distributor and they replaced it straight away. I actually used it for my first ferment in the unitank, I just moved the handle position and had the valve fitted with the damaged port facing...

    Chugger Pump PSI...?

For what it is worth, I got a mini-spray ball from SS Brewtech. Ideal for the 7 gpm pumps like March and Chugger.

    Help diagnosing a keg issue

Maybe the beer pick up tube is sitting flush against the bottom of the keg. If it is it will need to be bent slightly upwards.

    Trub/Hop Filter from BrewersHardware

Hi Calebstringer. The first time I used mine it blocked also. After that I used an immersion chiller to cool the wort to 70 degrees celcius, whirlpool and then run off through a plate chiller. I think the higher temp of the wort passing through the filter did the trick.

    Trub/Hop Filter from BrewersHardware

Hi all. I just thought I'd share a few tips on using the trub filter. I've made two batches with it to date and the batch I made today was by far a better process than the first. The filter performs a lot better with hot wort running through it compared to chilled wort, I'm assuming this is...
