Right, so we are about 20 odd minutes away from each other. Happy to pick up your grain and hold it for you. You can pick it up at my place sometime this weekend, if that works for you.

Anyone ever do a group buy from Chinese Keg Manufacturer?

I saw an add on the banner here in HBT for Qingdao Jinyou, their kegs look nice.. http://en.jinyou.com.cn/products_detail/&productId=ec99c1a0-1fe1-4c3b-a277-49572c50af8a&comp_stats=comp-FrontProducts_list01-004.html Has anyone ever tried to organize a group buy for an area before?

I wish I knew then what I know now.... A list of some lessons learned!

Curious to understand what your thoughts on the minuses are for the secondary fermenter. I can think of 1) additional cost for another fermenter + autospihon (makes transfer soo much easier) 2) risk of contamination. The pluses for me significantly outweigh the minuses: 1) Less chance of off...

I wish I knew then what I know now.... A list of some lessons learned!

You are absolutely correct.. You can make great beer with other methods and there is no "right" answer. These are my preferences and lessons learned, which are largely based on my setup. Sparging is the process for rinsing sugars from grain (all grain method). There are a couple methods to...

Noob mistake, making sure im ok!

Can you provide some details? Recipe, ingredients, final volume, OG? I make 4 liter starters for my lagers, the final volume of yeast slurry is usually 500 to 1000 mL. I wouldn't worry about it.

I wish I knew then what I know now.... A list of some lessons learned!

First a disclaimer: I have been home brewing for about 1 year. I started with extract, moved into partial mash, and am on batch 6 of all grain. All in all, I have brewed 50 odd gallons with extract/partial mash and 30 gallons in all grain. I have not had to dump a single batch and 95% of the...

    My efficiency is terrible.

No harm in asking them to adjust the crush, especially if you pay them for the service. May want to state upfront your are struggling with efficiency and would rather risk a stuck sparge, so you aren't calling them out on a horrible crush.

    My efficiency is terrible.

I had some similar challenges with my first couple batches of all grain. It really does get better, hang in there! We have similar setups and both use batch sparging. The single biggest improvement in efficiency I made was with the grain crush. I have two LHBS. The first one "crushed" my...

Can I upgrade typical march pump to HF?

I'm still impressed that you and your company monitor this site and provide valuable information! Thanks again..

Can I upgrade typical march pump to HF?

Thanks for the info Walter, it makes sense.. I am guessing that 90% of the applications used with this pump are water based, but could be completely off my rocker. If that were the case, it would make more sense to have this as the standard impeller and offer the smaller one as a option. I...

Can I upgrade typical march pump to HF?

I forgot to add the picture. You can see the difference in size, using the screw driver as a point of reference. Why they don't make that the stock impeller on the HF series is beyond me.
