    Brewed the Ed Wort Trifecta!

On Feb 4th I brewed up 10 gallons of his Bavarian Hefe 10 gallons of his Kolsch 5 gallons of the Apfelwein. Transferring 5 gallons of Hefe to a keg today and after checking everything the Apfelwein is still chugging away. Sweet! :mug:

Austin Homebrew This Sounds Like YOUR Accounting Mistake Not Mine!

Let's see Austinhomebrew, this order is months old and now you want to tell me YOU credited the wrong Gift Certificate and sent me my order and now want $35. Right. This is an example of really poor business ethics. Austin Homebrew this sounds like your internal accounting problem/mistake and...

Beers getting worse and worse...a ha...a thermometer reading 12 high

So my beers since I have been brewing 2 years ago have been getting a bit off and now I know why. My Brewers Edge therm is way way off. This last 20 gallons I had to dump had so much astringency and tannic that it was undrinkable. Thermapen? What's my next step. Otherwise I have a great...

    Too much Camden Tablet?

I have a straight forward all 2 row Canadian Dry ale yeast brew that I do and I added a half tablet and did the 5.2 ph mash, plus Knox gelatin to it for the first time in my time doing this hobby. I live in Seattle and the water is considered good. I have done this brew many times before but...

So what am I missing with Plate Chiller Connections?

I have a 30 plate plate chiller coming this week. I have done some research and everyone has cam locks and elbows it seems and all these expensive fittings. My chiller will have two 3/4 male inlet/outlet and two 3/8 in/out for wort. What about the applicable female to barb and for a back...

    Wort Chiller Advice

Ok, I have done a bit of a search and would like some recommendations. My wife said I have about $150 for a plate chiller, which puts the Therminator out of reach. I am thinking about the DudaDiesel 30 plate or the Chillhog 4000 from Rebel Brewer. This would be the icing on my...

Looking for a working 10 gallon Corny keg for my kegerator. Would love to just transfer my batches once in to a keg rather than twice. Thanks, Shawn

Looking for a Blonde with Citra Hops recipe

I think these would go well together, but after doing some searches I have come up with just about nothing. Anyone have some info on this? I think this would really impress the SWMBO. She could have her friends over, I get to serve them drinks and it isn't my usual Saison which none of them...

Best Beer ever, and a broken regulator.

I have a Danby kegerator I picked up at Home Depot about five years ago. It has a Draught Technologies regulator that has been very difficult to turn the screw to adjust pressure. I have had to put a big pair of channel locks on it to get it to move. Well, I carbed up a beautiful Saison (my best...

Even hearty Beer drinkers are amazed at my lager ale story

Ok, I have always wanted to brew beer at home but due to my previous profession I was out of the states for six months at a time and home for two months. Not a lot of time to start a new hobby. I tell this tale to people who I would consider hearty beer drinkers and they are amazed. I...

    San Fran for the weekend...suggestions..

I have done a search and came up with this thread from the middle of last year. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f28/going-san-francisco-week-need-suggestions-186896/index2.html Anything anyone could add? Anchor Steam isn't open on the weekends and I get thirsty (wherever I am). Your...

Plate Chiller: SWMBO is done with the "1 more thing..."

So, I am just about done building my brewery in our condo. 15 gallon pot, along with an 8 and 5 gallon pot. A kegerator and cornies. Now I am looking for a plate chiller. dudadiesel.com seems to be the cheapest. Anyone with experience? Any experience in the 30 or 40 plate chiller? I...

Filtration.....worth it? I am thinking so, what do you use?

I am wondering what system most brewers use for filtration. I have read, and searched and no one has said "This is the one that is the best/good/economical. Anyone? ~Diz

Tinker Tinker...Trying To Improve My Brew...

Ok. I have about 25 batches under my belt and am always looking to improve brews. I noticed that my dip tube was in the middle of my yeast cake at the bottom. I have bent the tube away and up from that. Might make a difference. We'll see. Cold crashing. Would it help to put the primary...

    Starter Question

How much DME and water would you use for a starter for a lager with an OG of 1.050? I have tried Mr. Malty but haven't really gleaned anything from that site. Thx, ~Diz

Yeast Starter, DME hard as a brick

Is it ok to use DME that is about two months old that is hard as a brick for a strarter? After the boil it seemed to break down. Just a question. ~Diz

    Plastic Lager..........

So I finished lagering a Stella Clone from AHB this week. On whole it is very good and has a good bite and clean finish. After a pint though I am getting a plastic aftertaste, which obviously is unpleasant. No one is trying to perfect a plastic lager. I do believe for some reason I used plastic...

The Little Known Yeast Starter ?

So, I pitched a yeast starter for the first time after about twenty brews, and man has that thing taken off. I have brewed both ales and lagers in the past. I have looked at MrMalty and it says to pitch x.x vials or come up with that much. Obviously you should pitch more for a lager...

    1st Time Starter

Tonight I made my first starter for the AHB Canadian Ale. I made one quart of water and 1 cup of DME. Boiled for 15 mins, cooled and pitched in a gallon clear growler. I plan on brewing the all grain Ale on Sat or Sun. I guess I just wait. I am tired of my beers taking 3 days to take...
