    Question about a Mexican Pilsner....

I currently have a Mexican Pilsner similar to Corona on day 7 in the primary and it is still fermenting like crazy. It is my first lager I have ever done and I have been able to keep it around 50-53 degrees just using outside temperature. What I'm wondering about is the recipe calls for moving...

Vanilla Bourbon Black Ale, major screw up?

So I brewed a black ale and added 2 vanilla beans and a pint of Woodford Reserve to the secondary and after racking it on top of that I noticed I've got about 5.5 gallons of what is supposed to be a 5 gallon batch. FG is 1.010-1.011 and its supposed to be around 1.013. Did I majorly screw up and...

    Mini-Mash grain bag idea...

Sorry if this has already been discussed before but I was at Walmart and saw a nylon type laundry bag made by Tide that I believe was 15x18 inches and it dawned on me to use it as a reuseable mini-mash grain bag. Has anyone else used these or heard of anyone using them? Do I need to do anything...

    Newbie Questions...

Hey all, I just did a Brewferm Kriek and I'm really not sure if this is even the right thread but I did it in a 3 gallon fermenter which I've never done and I wasn't able to stir the yeast in real well like it said and it seems weird to me so I attached a pic to see if y'all thought it would be...

    Groelsch Bottles

I recently bought 24 16 oz. Groelsch bottles to use for bottling part of my first home brew and I've heard the gaskets need changed from time to time so I was wondering if these would be sufficient to use for now?

    Secondary time

Hey y'all, first batcher here. Got 5 gallons oatmeal stout on day 13 in secondary fermenter after 7 days in primary. It's still fermenting and my question is how long is it ok to leave a batch in the secondary? 3 weeks? 4 weeks? What is too long? I'm planning on at least another week since its...

    Worried...

Hey y'all, first time brewer and I'm 8 days into the secondary fermenter after a week in the primary and my batch has developed a ring of what appears to be a foamy substance. Is this normal or not? I'm worried I have something growing in there that shouldn't be!

    Groelsch Bottles

Hi all, first time brewer and my batch of oatmeal stout is in the secondary and will soon be bottling. I obtained 70 groelsch bottles and I'm wondering if these work fine for bottling (as long as the gasket is in good condition). I read somewhere that some people had trouble with lack of...
