Anyone use a reptile heating pad (Zoo Med ReptiTherm) to heat a fermentation chamber?

Yep lasko. I always try to cool my wort to pitch temp/ferment temp. And only heat up last couple days of primary.

Anyone use a reptile heating pad (Zoo Med ReptiTherm) to heat a fermentation chamber?

I tried the large, but my ferm chamber is in a non heated garage. It could not keep up when heat dropped below about 50 degrees. I decided to spend $10 on a ceramic heater with a fan. It keeps the chamber at temp when the outside temp is below 0 degrees. Plus no hot spots due to the fan.

What was your Gatewaybeer to craft beer?

I was stationed in northern Italy and the first beer to pull me away from the BMC was Franziskaner. Still love that beer, and I'm not a huge hefe fan.

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

Non - engineer. Air Force survival instructor (SERE Specialist). I am currently training the new instructors. It's hard to brew sometimes, I'm in the field for 180 days a year. So I do double 10 gallon batches when I can.

Brewers Hardware vs. Stout conical questions

I don't have any problems draining my stout 14.5 gallon with 1.5 inch butterfly valve. With that said either way you go your going to get great quality. All my kettles are stout and all my fittings are brewers hardware.

    Oops

I would rack to secondary when primary is over. You will get some lot of grassy flavors if you dont, and I would still dry hop. You will probably loose a lot of the aromas from the magnum due to fermentation.

    Want to start hunting

Find a mentor if you can. There are so many different ways you can go with deer hunting. Most of the media now is very centered on shooting GIANT bucks, and ONLY giant bucks. If your looking for the enjoyment of hunting and to put some meat on the table a mentor should be able to tailor his...

    Starbucks vs Exit 6 brewpub

For me it's not just about size. How they treat their employees is probably at the top of the list. For example, Costco vs Walmart. Both large corporations but one takes care of their employees one goes out of their way to make an extra buck at their employees expense.

    Starbucks vs Exit 6 brewpub

Sounded like he was ignorant to the fact that it was trademarked in the first place. I also know Starbucks like many corporations pay a legal team to do nothing but protect their trademarks and such. I did like his response to the letter. He obviously knew he had to change the name but at...
