FT: New England Brewing Gandhi Bot ISO stuff I can't buy in NYC metro area!

Fresh batch of Gandhi-Bot came out recently, I picked up a few extra and I'd love to trade for something I can't get in NYC, MA, or CT. I'd love some Three Floyds, New Glarus, Tallgrass, Surly, Russian River, Cigar City (even though apparently now I can get Cigar City in NY) and the list goes...

I have a lot of GI Bourbon County and I want to trade for other beers!

Self explanatory title! I bought a little less than a case of BCBS and I loved it but I thought I should try and get some beers that I can't find here in CT/NY for a few BCBS. Is this the right place to post about this?

Oak barrels in CT/NYC metro area??

I'm looking for new or used oak barrels (5-15 gallons preferable) and I've been having the worst luck in finding something I can afford. I don't wanna spend like $300, I think $150 would be my max and even that would depend on whether it's new or used and the size. Please help!

Enjoy By-inspired DIPA way off in SRM

Hi, I brewed a brew inspired by this: http://www.bertusbrewery.com/2013/04/ipa-clone-series-stone-enjoy-by-ipa.html My grain bill was 9 lbs of Maris Otter, 9 lbs of Rahr pale 2-row and 1 lb of Carapils The wort going into the kettle was probably 4-8 SRM. Now, 3 weeks after...

1 Gallon Celebrator Clone attempt, need advice

Hi, Just today I decided I’m going to start brewing 1 gallon batches to improve my brewing. The biggest benefit of this I think will be that I’ll be able to brew lagers because they can fit in my mini fridge. So I want to brew something like Ayinger’s Celebrator, because DAMN I love that...

Wyeast 1056 fermented at 78 deg. for a day

Hi, As the title suggests, this question is about 1056 fermentation temp. I couldn't cool down my DIPA below 78 so I just pitched my 2L, well oxygenated started into the carboy. I checked in the morning and the fermentation looked real good. bubbling, great hop aromas comin out, everything...

FG too high for my liking, should i add DME/sugar?

I brewed a KBS clone a month back or so and it's been sitting around at an FG of 1.026 with an OG of 1.073. I would LIKE to boost the alcohol content to make it more true to what I tried to make. KBS was like 11% this year but I doubt it's wise to get it up that high. I'd be thrilled if I could...

    Efficiency reading confuses me

I did an all grain batch of a big oatmeal stout and while I was collecting wort I took a hydrometer reading after I had about a gallon or 2 of wort in my kettle. The reading was 1.072 and the temp of the wort was 140 deg. F (which corrects to 1.092 i think). I took ANOTHER reading of the same...

    Is this enough yeast?

Hi, I want to brew a very hoppy (10 oz or so of hops) 6% IPA tomorrow and I need some advice on yeast. I have a slurry of some 1056 that I bought in December of 2012, used for an IPA of about 6%, washed the yeast and then brewed a 7% coffee stout with it, then washed it AGAIN and now this is...

    Saison w/ 3711 fermenting at 90 degrees...

I pitched some 3711 into a 1.064 OG (or around there) Saison Sunday night and it was fermenting after 12 hours. Last night, i dipped a thermometer into it and it was 78 degrees, seemed pretty perfect. I had a heating pad on it all day set to low in my otherwise kinda cold room (60 deg). Welllll...

    Calculating OG after topping off

I brewed a saison and due to miscalculation with sparging and boiling, I ended up with a little more than 4 gallons of wort instead of the anticipated 5 gallons. The weird thing was when I took a gravity reading with the last bit of wort left in my kettle that I didn't transfer to the carboy, it...

    Should i do it?

Hi, I have a Founder's Breakfast stout clone that's been sitting in primary for 22 days. I wanna bottle it next weekend or so (not later), so I want to add a final addition of chocolate and coffee. After reading a bunch I've decided I'm gonna coldbrew the coffee and add it to the bottling...

Can i just use 2 starters for a high gravity beer?

Hi, I don't want to make a big starter with the step process so can i just use 2 starters? I'm making a 5.5 gallon founders breakfast stout clone(ish) at about 1.086 OG (targeted) and I was just gonna do one 1 liter starter and one 2 liter started (both from the same washed 1056 strain i...

First time poster - what to dry hop with?

Hi everyone, I've been reading hbt for a few weeks now and just brewed my first ever beer (all grain) 22 days ago (it's a hefeweizen that's carbonating now). My question is about the IPA I brewed 2 days ago. It was 10 lb. rahr pale 2-row, 1 lb. Munton's carapils and 1 lb. Munton's Crystal...
