if you dont want to make a starter you can use safale us05 dry it works good on high gravity worts also make sure you cool the wort to about 65f before pitching.
i was going to brew a pilsner today but i brewed a DIPA last sunday and foud out two batches of yeast that i pitched were bad so now i dont have any yeast and i cant buy any cause everything is closed today. oh yea happy new year
i used to have an alcoholic buddy that would drink anything with alcohol in it, so he was my bad beer / bad wine disposal but now i just pour it out ,i think out of a hundred batches i have choked down about four batches and poured three down the drain.
I have had several batches look like mold in the secondary and i have never had any problems with that beer, the yeast can somtimes look like mold. all you can do now is proceed with bottling or kegging and see what happens.
I am a big sam fan and i found a recipie in a book called clone brews they have a clone of the boston lagar it taste close to the real thing would be even closer with the right yeast and cold ferment.:mug:
i used to think that also, i am making good beer now why should i go all grain, my best answer to that is if you are happy wit what you are doing then keep doing it, if you are like me and want to get more into it then give AG a try i was suprised at how easy it realy is and you get the...
This is why other homebrew supply shops are popping up everywhere, it is getting more competitive due to price and support or lack of. My hbs in wichita has always been supportive and i try to suport them as much as i can but thier grain prices are killing me, so i buy grain from the other hbs...

when i was trying to pick a user name, i had a hard time finding somthing that hasnt been used, so i asked my wife and she said how about smartass. Now i dont think for one minute that i am either smart or an ass however the name took so i used it.
sounds like you should let that beer set for a bout two months, i always let my beers set at least two months before i keg them lagars could take even longer depending on the taste you desire.
i do both depening on how much time i have, an extract kit only takes two hours and all grain takes about five hours. extract with steeped grains can make very good beer if you dont have the time for all grain.
i had a friend who had a mr beer kit. He told me to go to the local homebrew shop and buy thier kit, so i did three years ago and now i do both extract and all grain when i got time, i think the thing is to just enjoy your new hobby and move along at your own pace it can be rewarding in many ways.
the old outlets have three wires and the new have four it doesnt matter either way you can tie nuetral to ground for a gfi and it will work ok, mine has the grounds tied to the outside of the brew kettle and i havent had any problems the extra ground wire is there in case your nuetral gets...
