Forgot Aromatic Malt...what do I lose?

Just brewed JZ's Cowboy Alt from Brewing Classic Styles. 5lbs of Pilsen DME 1.5lbs of Munich Malt (60min partial mash) 8oz of Caramunich 3oz of Carafa II. Only half way though the boil I ealized I forgot to buy the 1lb of Araomatic Malt. Obviously it was too late so I went ahead...

$500 to spend 60th birthday gift

Are you sure you are getting him what he may want or what you want him to have? I wouldn't blow $500 on brewing stuff for someone who has never brewed before.

Where can I get WPL yeast in NH?

Haven't been there in a while but Kettle to Keg in Pembroke had White Labs. They have a web site, just Google it. EDIT: Just checked their website, only Wyeast. There probably is an identical Wyeast version of the WLP you are looking for though. Mr. Malty http://www.mrmalty.com/yeast.htm has...

    Northern Brewer IPA kits

Talked to them online and they told me to call in and gave me the discount. I converted away from them after they removed flat rate shipping, but now they have it back and so far their customer service remains top-notch. Now let's just hope I like the Kama Citra :)

    Northern Brewer IPA kits

Seems the 20% coupon code isn't working now. Darn!

    Northern Brewer IPA kits

Did the Citra IPA come out too sweet or was it nicely balanced? The one "Citra IPA" I had was like drinking juice.

    Northern Brewer IPA kits

Looking to take advantage of the 20% sale at Northern Brewer and I have recently gotten into IPAs. But I have no idea which kit(s) to buy: Kama Citra? Highrise? Deadringer? Will Wheaton? I don't care for IPAs that have too much pine or resin. Like: Baxter Brewing Stowaway IPA...

    Austin's Union Jack Clone (extract)

I'm just starting to get into IPAs and love Firestone Walker's Union Jack. Has anyone tried the clone kit from Austin Homebrew? Is it similar or are the hop characteristics different? I hate IPAs that leave a pine & resin mouthfeel (like a Sierra Nevada). The kit's expensive and I don't want to...

    Never wash your yeast again!!!!

I like the idea in theory, but it seems I don't brew enough to take advantage of it. I have two slurries in the fridge, one harvested from Dec. and one from early Jan. When I went to make my last batch two weeks ago, I checked on mrmalty and it looked like I was going to have to build it up with...

    Made my first IPA...dryhop help/suggestions

Thanks for the advice, I guess next brew will be more of an American IPA. I have an ounce of Williamette sitting there idle in the freezer. Would that be a good dry-hop to match with the EKG? Thanks again!

    Made my first IPA...dryhop help/suggestions

Background: I have always hated IPAs, ( I HATE resin and oily coatings) but recently I noticed my pallete has changed and I have really enjoyed some of the more English style IPAs (Goose Island & Brooklyn). Which aren't very resiny. So I decided to make my first IPA batch, I did 3oz of EKG (2...

    Austin Homebrew Closed?

Why is it that every store I start to like goes downhill? First it was NB getting rid of flat-rate shipping. Then Brewmasters Warehouse taking weeks to ship orders. Now Austin.... Does anyone have another merchant I can doom?

    Burst Grain Bag

OP: You will be fine. I was steeping two pounds of specialty grains, when I went to untie the knot from the handle I wasn't thinking and let it fall into the kettle. I scooped out as much as I could but it was unavoidable that some would be left in. The beer turned out just fine and I didn't...

    Had my first Heady Topper

After many months I finally got my hands on a Heady Topper. Let me start by saying I am not a big IPA fan, with Harpoon and Goose Island being my favorite, but I will often pass on IPA all together. Despite that after hearing so much about it I had to try it. I was fairly underwhelmed by it...

    What good is an IPA?

I have always hated IPAs for basically the same reason as OP but this year I got into Harpoon's IPA. It has more of a malt profile (yet still bitter) and the pine/grapefruit/resin doesn't stand out. Try Harpoon if you have access, it's about the only IPA I will drink.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Austin Homebrew's Moose Drool clone on top of a Wyeast American Ale II slurry.

Does anyone else think Sam Adam's beer sucks

Sam Adams is a good beer for the transition from macrobrew to micro brew. If it weren't for Sam Adams I doubt craft beer would be what it is today. I'd rather have a S.A. than a Bud/Miller/Coors, but hat being said, there beers are subpar* versions of the style they are meant to be. * Noble...
