    First All Grain Brew

I also have foam issues at the start of a keg. Seems to not have any for about 6-10 pints, and then its like the extra head space in the keg helps out, or it just takes a while to become fully carbed. my beer lines are 1/4 id and about 3 feet long.

    after yeast wash question

hmm, cant find the info on yeast calc. there is 37 ml of yeast in a white labs vial. i would assume that 2 jars, with a 2L starter would be plenty. Bernie Brew says in his post on yeast washing stickie on page 5 says that he does a 1.5L starter with on jar for 10 gallon batch.

    after yeast wash question

I washed my yeast about 2 weeks ago. I followed Billy Brews video on how to do it. I ended up with 4 pint jars (like his instructions) and each jar has about a 1/4 inch yeast cake, about 25 ml I'm guessing. How much should I use on my upcoming 10 gallon batch of my dead ringer ipa 1.064...

Want vs. Need for all grain

You didn't think you were going to save money with all-grain....did you??? I like that! I thought I was going to save some money doing all grain. I think eventually I will when I'm washing my yeast, and buying more specialty grains in bulk. So far its about the same price. Still damn fun...

    What are you fermenting in?

Hey guys: I've done about a dozen 5 gallon batches so far. I have a 6.5 glass carboy, and 2 6 gallon better bottles. Fermented in both equally and thinking of changing up. I hate lifting/moving my glass around. And I am scared its going to break and slice off my arms. Kind of a pain to...

    Super Low OG

I recently brewed an all grain Obsidian Stout Clone and also would of ran into a low og but I referenced the book "Designing Great Beers" and there is a great chapter about hitting your target og during your boil by adding some fermentables (dme), or by boiling off. I ended up hitting 1.068, my...
