By far Gary is my favorite lhbs, I've been buying stuff from him since he was selling out of his garage. Just mentioned shady lady because they usually have a stockpile of kegs. I do have to agree though, the only thing I ever get there is emergency items or co2.

Yeah, Gary at garys home brew stocks a couple used, I think and so does the shady lady on 9 mile road. You're looking at probably $60 a piece last time I checked.

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

I see what he is saying, his hops weren't listed with AA% and wants to know what to guesstimate. Call your lbhs and see if they can tell you what the AA% is.

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle (illustrated)

Thought I'd post a couple pics of mine so the other people who are terrible at crafts wouldn't feel as bad and intimidated by this.

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

Yeah, I use a wilserbrewer bag. About 12 batches in and no hiccups. It's starting to get a bit dingy, but that's my cleaning, not the quality. I don't wash it in cleaner or anything. I give it a good spray out and leave it to hang. There's usually a small amount of grain left in it, but oh...

First BIAB, Please help with process

This may not work for everyone, but I do a dunk Sparge technique which ends up being a 2 vessel system. Heat up strike water in kettle, mash in cooler tun with bag. Hold back 2 gallons or so for the kettle. heat the two gallons up to 170 or so, pull the bag from cooler and sit in the...

New BIAGer! Hello and a quick question.

Also, I've read that the grain absorb variable will change based on squeezing practices. I squeeze the crap out of mine and fuequently forget to adjust my volumes for this. I think people are using half the grain absorbtion factor that regular all grain guys are using. Like .06 versus...

    Help with understanding fermentation

As they said, have patience. I have a pretty good pipeline going so I usually brew and leave it in the primary until a keg opens up, unless it's a beer that specifically is better young then I will plan accordingly. I rarely take fg reading as I don't think I ever keg anything before 3-4 weeks...
