    Help with Competition Style Guidelines

I brewed what was supposed to be an Imperial Stout, but got VERY low efficiency. The beer still turned out great, and I'm thinking about entering it into a competition as an American Stout. My problem is that the numbers do not really fit in any category. The OG was too low to be Imperial...

    Do I have enough time/yeast?

I plan on brewing an Imperial Stout this Saturday that should start at 1.112 (70% efficiency) or 1.08 (the more likely 50% efficiency). Tomorrow (Thursday) I'll be getting my smack pack of Wyeast 1056 and plan on doing a 1.5-2L starter. Is this enough time, and will there be enough yeast to...

What are your favorite beer apps for Android?

I have a few brewing, beer finder and rate/track apps that I've played around with. I like certain features on some, but I feel like something's lacking on most, especially on the rate and track apps. What do you like?

    Silver Water Brewing

Does anyone know anything about Silver Water Brewing in the Monroe, LA area? From what I hear they are only handing out samples at events right now (maybe trying to get up and going ).

    Wyeast Pacman Smack Pack busted

I just finished my boil, and I"m now cooling the wort. I have 3 packs of Wyeast Pacman I'm about to pitch to a Foreign Extra Stout. OG should be around 1.064. I did not make a starter. I noticed 2 of the 3 packs were swollen, so I investigated the 3rd and noticed it had a hole in the top...

    Dark Belgians

I started looking for a Malheur 12 clone (with no luck so far). What are some similar commercial beers to try to find and/or something similar to brew?

    Small beer yeast question

I'm doing an Arrogant Bastard clone today, and thinking of making a small beer out of the leftovers. I plan on getting about 3 gallons out of the second beer, and I have a Cooper's Dry Brewing Yeast for the second batch. Should I pitch the whole pack or would that be overkill?

    Direct Heat to Mash Tun?

I'm working with Stainless Steel HLT and Mash Tun. I've missed my target temp a couple of times, and if adding more hot water didn't bring the temp up enough I use a jet burner to bring the mash temp up to my target. Anyone see any problems with this?
