No issues on controlling mash temps here. Just need to keep a few things in mind, it is actually the temp of the wort below the grain so it will fluctuate a bit at the beginning but settles down after 5 or 10 minutes. The whole time the grain bed is good.
Brewed a Cigar City Maduro clone today, went well. Took a bit longer than usual but was working on the new Grainfather system and anything new takes adjustment.

8 lbs Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) Grain 1 68.8 %
12.0 oz Brown Malt (65.0 SRM) Grain 2 6.5 %
12.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) Grain 3 6.5 %
12.0 oz Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM) Grain 4 6.5 %
12.0 oz Oats, Golden Naked...
