Made a starter around 4pm have it on a stirrer relatively slow noticing a layer of foam now and can’t see the whirlpool…smells good tho am I alright? It’s a starter from more beer

Looks fine. The idea of a stir plate is to keep yeast in suspension, where the cells have sufficient access to nutrients to fuel growth. A noticeable whirlpool isn't required.
