Hey all, I am brewing a Belgian Tripel and normally, I use White Labs WLP500 Monestary yeast but my local brew supply was out. So I went with the next closest, WLP540 Abbey. I brought it to room tempurature while I was brewing.

My worry is, when I went to pitch, the yeast came out solid like paste and not liquid like all other White Labs yeast I have used. Now it’s just staying clumped together in the carboy. Should I be concerned?

No worries. Yeast clumps are not problematic overall, just be sure to vigorously shake the package next time.

I agree, no worries.

Just check the date on the package for viability. Otherwise the yeast will figure it out. Or at least they usually do.
