Due to the lack of instant gratification from brewing beer, I've been trying my hand at making soda while I wait for my beer to ferment, namely ginger ale and ginger beer. I'm making it by bringing the water, sugar, and ginger to a boil and sleeping for an hour, then cooling to pitching temp, adding lime/lemon juice and yeast. But now that have a wort chiller that I've been using for beer, an ice bath feels like an eternity.
My question is.. Can I use the wort chiller to cool down the soda? Or will it pick up flavors and have an ill effect on future batches of beer?
