I turn the big 39 this year and I've been promising a Beer centric vacation for a long time. As luck would have it my birthday is at the end of September right in line with the begining of Octoberfest!

So Im still in the planning stages but here is my rough schdule. I'm looking for thoughts and input.

Tue...overnight flight to London
Wed. Arr London....tour Fullers Brewery and hit a couple CAMRA pubs
Thr... Eurostar to Brussels...a couple hours for Delerium and La Morte Subite...
Fri...Train to Munich with a lay over in Cologne for some Kolsch ;)
Sat...Oktoberfest
Sun ...Fly Home

I realize thats a super fast trip and lot of ground to cover but I like to travel a pretty fast clip. Im hoping to just skim the highlights of each area. I did a similar (non beer focused trip) a couple years ago with a similary itinerary and it was a riot.

And I thought my 3 brewery tour in Chapel Hill for my 33rd was lavish !!

Yes, that is a fast trip! If it was my trip, I'd skip London this time because that adds quite a bit to the cost for not a lot of benefit, and more time could be spent Belgium or Germany. There is FAR more to both countries than Brussels in Belgium or Munich and Koln in Germany that is worth a look. Some of the Abbeys in Belgium for example. Plus, lots of cool places in Germany.

Good point Yooper.

Thanks for the pointers...ya...I loved Belgium on my first visit...I spent a couple days in Bruges and absolutley loved that city....I lived on the "Frits" sold in the square and 2 Euro Stella Artois 40's the whole time...it was awesome :) (kinda like being in College again)

I was hoping to avoid renting a car...does anybody know of any Abbey's or other breweries that are accessible via public transport?

Thanks
