I've just finished building a wooden bottle drying tree, and I am wondering what I could coat it with. I want to seal it with something, but I'm not sure what will be best as far as not contaminating the bottles.
If your concern is toxins leeching out of the finish then I wouldn't worry about it with modern finishing products once they are properly cured.... that being said I would be more concerned with the water resistance of the finish that you choose. If you plan on doing more than spraying with star san(such as submerging) make sure you use a marine grade finish such as spar varnish to avoid the finish flaking off into your bottles
