Wiring questions??

Trying to wire this electric motor to an extension cord for my maltmill. Can anyone break this down for me? I'm not the best with electronics.

If you're going to use 120vac to run the motor, use the diagram on the left. Gather the two wire groups as shown, tie one group to the hot/black line from your cord, tie the other group to the neutral/white line, and attach the green wire from your cord to the motor housing (unless the motor has a green safety ground wire - in which case connect to that instead)...
