Very excited about this! It's happily bubbling away in the primary as we speak.
I used another tried-and-true victory stout recipe I've made as the base, and then added a bunch of fun stuff to it!
Moompa Loompa Stout: 5.25 gal. OG 1.064 FG predicted 1.018 ibu's 42
5 lbs. extra light dme
2 lbs. chocolate malt
1.5 lbs. victory malt
1 lb. flaked oats
1 lb. lactose sugar
.5 lb. special-B malt
.75oz. warrior @ FWH - 31 ibu
1oz. Amarillo @ 20 - 11 ibu
S-05 (2 packets)
4oz. orange peel steeped in 6 cups water for hours and added at flameout
3oz. cacao nibs steeped w/ orange peels and added at flameout
Mash @ 152 degrees for 45 min.
Boil 90 min.
Primary @ 62 degrees 10 days
Secondary @ 70 degrees 5 days
Cold crash/keg @ 48 degrees
*62 degrees sounds way too low for S-05, but I love fermenting them low and slow. It always gives me a very clean ester-free beer.
