I will be brewing up my first attempt at a Scotch Ale tomorrow. I went with White Labs Edinburgh yeast.... however I am not reading all over the place that it thrives best in 60 deg temps....as much as I would love to Lager, there is nary a place in my house where I can keep the fermenter below 72 degrees..... Has anyone used this yeast at standard ale temps? Any feedback?

You're not reading that it thrives at 60? I've always used it 65-70. Try to keep it cool with a tub of water and towels, and go for it.

It does great at 60 (or even lower), but will also do fine warmer. 72 ambient however is pretty high - don't forget that fermentation generates heat, so your beer temp will likely be 75 or warmer. Try to keep temps down for at least the first 2-3 days. A tub of water with ice packs - aka swamp cooler - works well.

I used it in a Wee Heavy. 10% ABV it did wonderfully in the mid sixties. Use a swamp cooler as ColoHox suggested. Use rotating ice bottles to keep the temperature controlled.

From White labs website:

Optimum Ferment Temp:
65-70°F (Does not ferment well less than 62°F)

Aerate well and pitch a healthy starter and it does fine at 58 ;)
