When to brew Barleywine and RIS

I'm pretty certain I've missed the boat for Christmas 2013. If I want to have a barleywine and a RIS ready for Christmas 2014, when do I need to brew it? Or have I already missed the boat for that, too?

I usually give my barley wines a year in the bottle. I'd say brew now for Christmas 2014. RIS is a little less in my experience. Usually 6-8 months. The longer it ages the better... Within reason of course.

If you're shooting for next year, there really is no set time. It might turn out better at 11 months, 35...or even 3...so it's really a toss-up. Just brew it and worry about appropriateness later.
