What's a good way to get into trying competitions?

I've only been brewing for a couple years, just started all grain this fall....I've made some pretty good beers, some that I've managed to drink, one dumper, and a couple that I was truly proud of.... Almost entered one in a county fair but the timing didn't work out. So, If I wanted to enter into a competition, what do I need to know? How do I find out about local or fairly local ones? What are the basics?

The aha website has a list of sanctioned events. Thats the best place to start. Local homebrew clubs are another good option.

Ive done 2, and you basocally just fill out a form online, pay a couple bucks, drop a couple beers off and thats it.

Do you have a local homebrew club? They would probably be a great resource for upcoming local competitions.

Either link should have essentially the same stuff. But they're both competition calendars.

Find one near you, and enter. Just make sure you read the rules, and choose your category you're entering carefully. Lots of people enter their beers in the wrong category. Some judges are more tolerant of it than others. I for one will dock you points if you enter in the wrong category.
