An employee is headed to Waterloo in a couple of weeks and offered to bring back some brews we can't get here in DFW. I've got no clue what to tell him, but don't want to waste the opportunity. Got any recommendations?

Ive heard good things about Toppling Golieth. Everything is pretty average and below but maybe some above average like, Backpocket,Great River,Peace tree(if you like everything with Belgian yeast),Madhouse is pretty decent-some of their stuff.

Millstream is another. You should try the Backroad Stout if you're into sweet stouts. Toppling Goliath is really good, but I don't think they bottle. Backpocket is certainly one you should grab some.

That's juuuust about it for Iowa, sadly. Iowa doesn't have much to offer...
You might consider Bent River brewing as well from Moline, which is technically Illinois, but it's right on the border.
http://bentriverbrewing.com/ They have a really good coffee stout.

Millstream is worth checking out. Ive even went to the brewery-in the amana colonies which is small but pretty cozy. They can be inconsistant sometimes but generally good. Their big beer series can be pretty hit or miss. My opinion for them would be good but not great but sometimes great and sometimes not so good. Oh and i think Bent river does have some good ones like uncommon stout(particularly on tap) the stout you are talking about-they bottled it recently and it didnt do it justice really-was like day old coffee compared to a beer on tap that has coffee that tastes better than coffee itself!, pepper ale is good, and paddy pale ale also. Solid traditonal stuff that they have sticked to for a long long time mostly.
