Can you weld a ball valve onto an aluminum kettle? I know nothing about welding.

Yes you can, but you would have to take it somewhere where they have a TIG welder. Also you would have to identify both metals so they could select the proper filler rod to use to weld these two metals together.

You can weld an alluminum coller to the kettle with threads in it. if you are tring to do this yourself you can purchase non welded valve kits. All you need to do is drill a hole. they work very well in most cases.

You can only join Aluminum to Aluminum when welding!

There are some grades of Aluminum (2024 and 7075) that are considered unweldable.

Non-ferrous metals(like Aluminum) cannot be joined to ferrous metals(Stainless steel or Carbon steel) using conventional welding processes.

Ferrous means that the metal contains Iron. Therefore ferrous metals CAN be welded together. For example Carbon steel to Stainless steel, Chromoly to Stainless, Carbon steel to Chromoly.

Brazing non-ferrous to ferrous metals is possible.
