Weird ball lock keg - is this thing worth using?

Well the title says it all. A friend of a friend was moving across the country and didn't want to haul all of his brew gear (that he hadn't used in years). So he gave it to my friend, and my friend gave me this keg.

But I've never seen one with a lid like this. I'm even a bit hesitant to try and open it as I'm not sure if it's pressurized or not. The little flip thing on the cap does nothing that I can tell.

Anyone seen one of these or know how to depressurize and remove the lid?

Well, it looks like you're gonna have to shave it before you use it for starters.

That is a PRV (pressure relief valve) in the middle of the lid. You flip it and any gas that is in the keg should come out. My guess is there is a way to pop the lid when it is depressurized, but I've never seen that design.

Get that thing some Nair and a razor!
