I need to brew beer for a friends wedding this fall, so I'm making a test batch this weekend. They were thinking something like hennepin, but I'm thinking a blond w/ a lil bit of spices might go over better with the general public. Let me know what you think.
5gal batch, 1.057 OG, 30 IBUs, 4 SRM
80% Pils
8% Munich 10
4% Wheat
8% Sucrose
1oz Northern Brewer @60
0.5oz Saaz @15
0.5oz Saaz @5
orange/tangerine/lemon zest?
ginger?
Wy3522 Ardennes
Mash @149F, boil 90mins, pitch @64F let rise into 70s
I've never used spices before, but I figured I'd use a lil to give a nod to the original hennepin thought. What would be a good amount to use?
I was also debating on ditching the saaz & spices for some citra to give the fruity notes. good/bad idea?
