Greetings all, I have a fitting that I really thought was a brass fitting, but after not having used it for quite some time, I see what looks like a white build up. I am a little worried that this is in fact verdigris, though I’m not sure if verdigris grows on brass … Can anybody give me some advice on whether or not they think this might be dangerous? Obviously, when in doubt I can just chuck it and buy a new one, but if this seems like an obvious answer to people, I figure there’s no use in wasting time or money. Please advise. Thank you so much :)

That's verdigris, all right. It forms on brass and bronze, because those metals are copper based alloys. A mixture of salt and lemon juice should get rid of it, maybe using an old toothbrush or similar. Good luck! Please let us know how it turns out.

Straight, uncut starsan works as well IIRC. Wear gloves and keep it away from clothes/anything you like
