Anyone have any experience using an electric kettle on a gas burner?

At home my equipment is electric with a 1.5" tri clamp element. Thinking with a high temp gasket and a 1.5 cap I could use the kettle on a gas burner. looking for a solution to take my kettle with to brew at locations other than home when electrical is not available. Don't want to buy/store a kettle just for these occasions.

I would suggest a sheet metal heat shield placed b/w the burner and kettle to block the heat from hitting the tri clover fitting.

Perhaps simply wrapping the fitting with a few wraps of aluminum foil would also protect it from excessive heat.

Use definitely a heat shield so the flame can't get to them. Silicone (gaskets and tubing) starts to disintegrate around 450-500F. It becomes hard and brittle, and easily breaks into small pieces.
