I crush my grain at LHBS. I usually purchase two batches at a time, so sometimes I have a crushed grain bill stored for a couple weeks before it gets brewed.

So I was thinking, why not use desiccants to preserve freshness? I thought I would use a handful placed in a muslin bag, then throw the muslin bag into the plastic bag of grain and close it up tight. I figure as long as they are in a muslin bag, I won't have to worry about any getting "lost" in the grain and accidentally mashed (doesn't sound good).

Anyone try this or think it would help?

When I've had crushed grains lying around and couldn't brew (crushed them the night before, and had an emergency the next morning) I've just thrown them in the freezer, in a ziplock, seemed to work a treat.
