So I am all out of DME and want to make a yeast starter. I do have some LME in the back of my closet, its been there for well over a year and a half. I know i shouldnt brew with it due to alot of off flavors that may occur, but what about just using it for a starter? Also if I do decide to go for it, what is the ratio with LME compared to DME?

Good idea...

If you have a recipe that specifies DME, multiply the amount by 1.25 to get the necessary amount of LME. To convert from LME to DME, divide by 1.25.
