This should be straight forward. However, it seems like it's not, for me.

For instance, I just copy the "new brewsheet.htm" file which is located in my documents/Beersmith2/reports and paste it, rename it to whatever.htm.

I edit that file, go into Beersmith and add it to the reports.

It either shows no difference from the original file, or if i delete all the text in that file (because I was huh?, just to try something drastic) it still shows some default gibberish although amputated content.

I've copied it to my desktop (in case I was adding the wrong file) and added it from there in Beersmith, same stuff.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I have no idea. I just started from scratch and created a .txt document instead of a .htm document.

However. I can't seem to find the $ tag to implement mash temperatures and times into the custom report?

I'm no expert, but I had a custom report from somewhere that has this:
$MASH_INGREDIENTS $STEEP_INGREDIENTS $MASH_STEPS

which seems to poot out this:

Mash Steps
Name Description Step Temperature Step Time
Saccharification Add 27.39 qt of water at 158.6 F 152.0 F 60 min
If steeping, remove grains, and prepare to boil wort
Estimated pre-boil gravity is 1.039 SG

[Edit: and it *must* be good becuz it's from @Yooper]
