I've been looking to convert my biab setup from propane to 120v electric. 10 gallon batches just don't make sense anymore, so I want to do a simple 5 gallon setup that I can use for distillation when I'm not doing beer. I love the convenience of the Robobrew but at over $500 here in Ontario it's a no, for the simple fact that I could build a far superior unit for that price. I ordered an Inkbird IPB-16 (couldn't say no to the price), I was planning on just adding a 1650 watt element, pump and induction cooker to my pot, and done. Then I saw that you can get the turbo 500 boiler for under $200. I thought, that, a cheap pump and the inkbird basically equals a $350 Grainfather that can double as the boiler for the still! Any thoughts?
