All,
I have a second year hop plant and it is really taking off this year! I have a setup where they grow up a wire to my privacy fence and then I train them to grow on the wire horizontally along the fence. Anyway, i have bunch of vines growing and I am wondering if I should cut some of them back as they seem like they could choke each other out. Or should I just let them do their thing? It may even be too late this year because the plant is just huge now. Anyway, any input would be appreciated. Cheers!

Thinning of bines to select healthy and vigorous bines may help to improve yield. I wouldn't worry about the plant choking itself out though; I have come across old hop plants while visiting sites for my job that are absolutely massive, overgrown beasts that look happy as clams.
