The folley of a plastic element shroud

So 4 brews down the line using elements and they are now rendered unusable.
The elements are screwed into the wall of my kettle with plastic...collars? Shroud? See pic. I am unsure of their proper name, and this has really hindered me from finding replacements online.
It seems they have become brittle, and cracked. Leakage all over the place. After nosing about on the interwebs, it looks like brewers are using a locknut or similar metal nuts of sorts in addition to a shroud.

The elements have a 40mm thread, so I'm basically here to find out what these damn things are called to get em replaced!
