The effect of late extract additions on IBU calculations for Beersmit

Hello,
I have been toying with an English IPA recipe and found that changing the extract from a 60min boil to a 15min late addition, my IBUs changed from 46 to 77! That seems like a considerable difference. Is the difference really that large? Is this accurate?

Yes & yes. Bittering efficiency is strongly dependent on wort gravity.

I am glad that I checked this option in Beersmith. I would have done a late extract addition anyway, but my bitterness would have been way off.

So this would probably be a good way to save money on hops?
