A dechutes brew and one of my favorite beers of all time. Labeled cascadian dark ale aka black ipa. Is pure enjoyment from start to finish.
It's milkshake like mouthfeel has me wondering what they are useing to achieve this. Is it oatmeal? has anyone ever used oatmeal in an ipa just curious.

It is oats. (Now former) Deschutes Brewmaster Larry Sidor said as such.

Interesting beer in a lot of ways. They used Citra hops for the dry hops and used a cold steeping technique for extracting the black from the dark malts without getting the astringency. I believe this is a different technique from that used by Stone, Widmer, etc in their CDAs.
