What type of sugar is brown sugar? Is it fermentable? Does it add any flavor or body to the beer?

Most brown sugar these days is just white table sugar that's had a little molasses sprayed on it. Like any simple sugar, it will make your beer drier, thinner (less body), and higher in alcohol. In larger amounts it will also add a little molasses flavor.

Brown sugar is close to cane sugar, but not quite. It will not add body, but will in fact dry out the beer. It take a lot to add any real flavor.
